Floor Mat Runners: Added Traction Means Added Safety
About 38% of all major accidents in the workplace are due to slipping and falling. About 95% of those accidents result in broken bones and dislocations. While there are many factors that can cause a slip and fall accident, statistics show that these are caused most especially by the loss of traction on floors.
While it is important to make sure that slip and fall accidents don’t occur, some industries are more prone to them than others. For example, incidences of slip and fall accidents will most likely be more common in industries that deal with manufacture of liquid chemicals than let’s say iron smelting. These mat runners, besides giving added traction to floors are also excellent in protecting floors and are easily cleaned. The fact that they are easily cleaned also reduces cleaning costs. Choose rubber mat runners made of 100% vinyl rubber and are resistant to chemicals.
Heavy duty corrugated rubber mat runners should be used in areas where foot traffic is higher. Their thicker construction gives them a longer life, making heavy foot traffic areas safer for a longer time. Heavy duty rubber mat runners are also ideal for recreational areas.
For more heavy duty purposes, consider using industrial strength diamond plate runners. These types of mat runners give even greater traction due to their design as well as protecting your floors longer. These mats also have a yellow border to indicate safe walkways. Use this type of mat runner for areas that have the greatest traffic.
For more universal uses, consider using KleenSweep mat runners. These mats feature a round rib design. This design makes for easy cleaning. Use this type of mat runner for areas with more moderate foot traffic.
For areas such as lockers and shelf drawers, the ideal mat runner to use is the textured KleenRite rubber mat runner. These are best used indoors and are great for preventing slip accidents due to their surface design. They are also abrasion resistant and protect floors really well.
Radial rubber mat runners have a raised stud surface pattern and are great for indoor pedestrian walkways. Their raised stud design provide excellent traction, significantly minimizing the incidences of slip and fall accidents.
Installing the correct rubber mat runner for your floors makes good business sense. Decreasing the risk of slip and fall accidents for your workers mean less hours lost due to injury. It could also mean lesser chances of litigation for you and your company. Ultimately, your workers are your assets and assets should ultimately be nurtured.
